Loubna Soulaimani
Loubna Soulaimani is a self-taught Moroccan artist, born in Safi in 1993 and now based in Australia. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, she is recognised for a figurative, cubist language — elongated necks, fragmented faces, geometric forms — that moves between the personal and the collective: identity, memory, emotion, and family history and place.
A central influence is her late maternal grandmother, a self-taught artist who never attended school and painted instinctively with whatever she could find. Through Loubna’s work, a part of her grandmother continues to paint.
Her collection for Sookies is unveiling soon.
