Sourcing & making
What we use, where it comes from, and how it is made — plainly. This page will grow as the shop does.
A women’s cooperative in Morocco
Our Moroccan spices are ground through a women’s agricultural cooperative. The work — harvesting, sorting, drying, grinding — creates employment, fair compensation, and greater financial independence for rural women, with knowledge that does not come from a factory line.
Glass, not plastic
The spices live in glass jars built to be refilled and kept, not thrown away. We keep plastic out of the packaging wherever we possibly can.
Cotton you will actually reuse
Totes are 100% cotton canvas. Gift bags are reusable cotton. Both are meant for a second life at the market, not a drawer.
Small businesses, close to home
Where practical, we work with US-based businesses, and with small and women-owned businesses. Not always possible — always preferred.
As the shop grows, this page will change with it.

Small family businesses Everything else
Wherever we can, the rest comes from small, family-owned businesses in the USA.
And as little plastic as we can manage.
