Sweet Paprika

$19.00

Flavor profile

The gentle sister. All warmth and color, no burn — the red that opens nearly every Moroccan marinade and stew, including our Chermoola, where it leads.

How to use

Bloom it briefly in oil for stews and bean dishes, rub it on chicken before roasting, dust it over eggs or hummus. Pair it with its spicier sister when you want warmth and heat.

The spice had to earn the jar

Moroccan-grown, bought through women's cooperatives in Morocco, and packed in small batches in Manhattan. A beautiful jar does not get a free pass — the spice has to cook.

Artwork by Kawtar Barraz

The jar wears an original collage by Moroccan artist Kawtar Barraz — a woman carrying her paprika overhead, one of seven dresses in her single-spice series. Clear glass, gold lid, made to refill and keep.
